As civilizations we love to use floodplains for everything. Cities, farms, pastures, river front properties have long been key targets for development. It was not always readily apparent that we were doing considerable damage to one of our most critical and productive ecosystem habitats. World wide awareness has reached a tipping point regarding floodplain connectivity restoration.
