Week 313 oyster reefs are a strategic component of coastal health-who knew?

Oysters are a great food delicacy around the world. Coastal communities have utilized these mollusks from time immemorial. Since the onset of the industrial revolution though somewhere between 85 to 95% of the worlds coastal oyster reefs have been destroyed. Few knew how important these reefs were. Efforts are being made to restore them.
