World wide there is a movement growing related to urban forests. New York city just committed to add 250 thousand trees to its urban forest canopy. Areas of low income and communities of color are disproportionately lacking in the benefits of trees in their neighborhoods. Cities world wide are making changes to address the urban heat index and the lack of health benefits derived from old growth trees in city environments.
