We have a tendency to think that rewilding is a new aspect of restoration ecology. This is far from the truth. Nevertheless our modern version of this is the proud part of a tradition embedded in our DNA as a species. Bringing the muskox back from the brink in the arctic regions of all norther continents is a classic example. What are the barriers in modern times?
